I think that the message is important and the story is really touching.

“Allow me to share this story with you … it’s about my home country ” IRAQ ”

    RAISING THE FLAG OF HUMANITY

I was recently watching the BBC World News present a beautiful story that brought tears to my eyes. It was about a fourteen-year-old Iraqi boy named Taha Saadi, who lives in Falluja. Taha lost his father as a result of the sectarian violence, but this beautiful young man didn’t have thoughts of revenge; instead, he had an idea to try to counter the hatred and killing in his country.

His idea was to gather his school friends and together they would write multiple messages of peace and love, and then seal them in used plastic bottles to be sent down the Euphrates, a river that cuts through Iraq. Why the Euphrates? He knew that most Iraqis, no matter what sect, drank from the water of the Euphrates. Therefore the bottles would be gathered up by members of all the sects. He was inspired by the fact that there was only one flag in his country…the Iraqi flag. And it seemed right to him that all Iraqis should be united in love and caring for the common good.

And so he made it happen. He and his school friends created wonderful letters, pictures and symbols of peace and unity. They then rolled up their offerings and sealed them inside the plastic bottles they had collected. Then, arm-in-arm, the group of boys walked to the river. They gathered on the bridge which had been the sight of much violence, and, together, they threw their bottles into the river with the anticipation that Iraqis of all sects would read their messages, come to their senses, and ultimately unite the country. The look of hope and love on their faces as they threw their bottles into the water would bring tears to anyone’s eyes.

While Taha had the philosophy there was one flag that should unite all Iraqis, you and I know that there is another flag that unites us all…and that is the flag of Humanity. Why don’t we follow Taha’s lead? I propose that wherever we live in this big, wide, beautiful world, that we all create our own messages of peace and love, and while we don’t have a river to unite us all, we do have our jobs or the internet or our involvement in the community or our families…or whatever…to reach out and touch the world with messages of peace, love…and a caring for the whole of the human race. Taha and his friends started it…let us all follow in his footsteps. Who knows? Miracles happen!

Thank you, Taha, for the incredible gift you have given us all. Your message has gone further than the Euphrates. I, and all those who read this, will help you get the message of peace and love out to the entire world. We will help you raise the flag of Humanity.”

  • Our deepest fear

    Date: 2008.07.03 | Category: Reading | Response: 0

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

  • To Be Successful, You Must Stay Motivated!

    Date: 2008.03.25 | Category: Reading | Response: 0

    by Nicky Pilkington

If you surveyed 50 people asking each their definition of success, chances are you would receive fifty different answers. Even so, there are certain steps everyone must follow in order to be successful. One of the most important is – staying motivated.

Do you have a new job? Have you started your own business? Are you in the process of earning a degree? Do you have the desire to lose weight? If one of these scenarios are a recent event in your life, you are probably still excited about the opportunity. That also probably means you are motivated, as well. Excitement and motivation, often, work hand in hand.

But, how do you stay motivated after several weeks or months have gone by? How do you maintain the same level of excitement that you had when you began your new adventure?

There are many things you can do to stay motivated. It is important to set aside a few minutes or more, each day, in an effort to keep your motivation level at its highest. There will be days that you may feel less motivated then usual. Let’s face it; we all have a bad day now and then. So, by doing all that you can to maintain a positive attitude, your “down days” will probably be few and far between.

Read a book. There are hundreds of books that have been written on the topic of motivation. Visit your local bookstore or library and browse the shelves. Ask the clerk or librarian for author and title recommendations. Both will be happy to help you.

If you have a busy schedule, don’t despair. Set aside 15 or 20 minutes each day. Even if you only read a few pages, during that time, it WILL help to keep you motivated. I do it and can attest to the fact that it really DOES work!

If you are in the process of achieving a goal such as weight loss or top salesperson, make a “dream board”. A dream board is a poster, of sorts. If a trimmer figure is your goal, cut out pictures of the new wardrobe you will someday buy.

If you dream of out-selling your peers, find pictures of your dream home or vacation destination… of the new car you would LOVE to drive. Make a collage with these pictures and hand it somewhere where you will see it each day.

There are many other things you can do to stay motivated. Believe in yourself. Stay healthy. Maintain a positive attitude.
You will be amazed at what you can achieve!

  • Having the IDEAL in life… Just imagine!

    Date: 2008.03.25 | Category: Reading | Response: 0

    by Nicky Pilkington

Ideal. It lives in your imagination and seeks to express itself in your life. Nurture your deal. Let it breathe in your soul.

You can always be an idealist by believing in the plausibility and possibilities of imagination. Like John Lennon who said, “reality leaves a lot to the imagination,” be a dreamer.

Imagination revealed things in various science fiction stories never existing before that are today common place. Imagination fueled the work of Albert Einstein. Imagination makes  hope and faith tangible.

We can create paradise on Earth. Want to live forever? Want to never get sickness or disease? Want to eradicate poverty? We’ll invent a way! For every problem there is a solution. We are inventing new things all the time, and at a more and more accelerated rate.

“If your mind can dream it and believe it, you can achieve it” is a popular saying. It reminds us that we have control and mastery. Can you dream? Can you believe? Of course we can. It’s child’s play!

Imagination lets you savor and have gratitude for every moment of your life and turns negatives into positives. Believing that everything happens for the greatest good makes everything an ideal situation. So you can always be in an ideal situation, thanks to your imagination.

Do you ever notice that we have a knack for creating our own truth? Do you see the truth of that situation? Ever notice how our prophecies and predictions get fulfilled? How expectations meet us at our level of expecting? Makes for good reason to expect the best!

Imagination can fill in all the places where we are lacking. So dream it to be it, that’s what thoughts are for. Who could ask for more?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. All of life can be beautiful if seen through the eyes of love. Our vision, as well as all our senses, are an extension of feeling. Feel love and you have what is called the rose colored-glasses effect. Something we create for ourselves with our idealist imagination.

Love is there when one only sees perfection. In such a state, it is easy to say that love is all that matters. It is the state of mind of poets, lovers, and dreamers. They practice the art of fantasy, play, discovery, and adventure.

Happiness can be found through creative expression. That is idealism in action. Reality is never static as it is always being shaped. We need not conform to stifling rules and boundaries. We need not be boxed in by limitation. Imagination has no limitation!

Our life is a product of our imagination. Expand your perception and you’ll find the world itself expands.

We are knowing and having more and more. We are also having more and more to look forward to. It is because we are growing and evolving. What will we evolve to be? Can we grow wings and fly to heaven? Or beyond?

What is ideal? We may not know yet, but will certainly come closer and closer to not only finding out, but growing into it as well. Use your imagination to think beyond the brink, feel it real, and boldly be. You will achieve the ideal.

“If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there’d be peace.”

“If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that’s his problem. Love and peace are eternal.”

“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.”

“Surrealism had a great effect on me because then I realised that the imagery in my mind wasn’t insanity. Surrealism to me is reality.”

“Love is the answer, and you know that for sure; Love is a flower, you’ve got to let it grow.”

“Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we’re being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I’m liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That’s what’s insane about it.”
